2018 Tap Fee Techniques & Trends Workshop

Tap fees (aka water system development charges) play a key role in meeting utilities’ financial needs as well as community growth objectives, and can even advance water efficiency goals. Raftelis, Western Resource Advocates and the Rocky Mountain Section of AWWA have teamed up to offer a one-day workshop on "Tap Fee Techniques & Trends".  

This one-day workshop will focus on:

  • Basic mechanics of calculating SDCs

  • Techniques to account for:

    • Water conservation-oriented SDCs

    • Varying water demands of new developments

    • Redevelopment

  • Balancing competing objectives

  • Implementation practices

  • Discussion and brainstorming with your peer utilities!

The workshop will include multiple case study examples combined with instructional how-to sessions and lively discussion from participants. Lunch and refreshments, as well as a copy of “A Guide to Designing Conservation-Oriented System Development Charges” (authored by WRA and Raftelis) will be provided to all participants.

Who Should Attend:  Water utility financial officers, general managers, conservation professionals, consultants, and any other interested parties.

This workshop is supported through grants from the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Gates Family Foundation.
