Meter Madness FAQ’S
What is Meter Madness? Meter Madness is a fast-paced competition where contestants assemble a specified water meter from a bucket of parts.
Where is it held? Meter Madness Contests are conducted locally by AWWA Sections. The national-level of this contest is conducted at AWWA’s Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE).
Who is eligible to enter? Two representatives may participate from each Section. In addition, the local ACE host may send a participant.
Must Competitors register for the ACE? No, it is not necessary for competitors to register for the entire conference unless they plan to attend professional sessions, etc. Complimentary exhibit hall badges will be provided to participants so they can gain admittance to the hall on the day of the contest.
What is the prize? A winners certificate will be provided to the advancing individuals from the Section competition. A plaque or trophy (to be determined by AWWA) will be awarded to each of the 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place winners at the national-level competition. A crystal trophy will be provided by AWWA to the 1st-place winner, and acrylic paperweights for the 2nd- to the 4th-place winners.
What brand of water meters are used? Sponsoring manufacturers and the Meter Madness Subcommittee determine the yearly meter featured. This meter is specified on the Meter Madness Competitor Info tab, along with a diagram of its assembly.
Will any parts be left out of the buckets? We do not want to put heavy parts in the bucket because there would be a chance that you could break the other parts when you dump your bucket. Therefore, we will leave the case, bottom plateand the register out of the bucket.
