 “Surviving Stress: A Professional Workshop”
Jason Bell
Southeast Christian Counseling Center
SESSION DESCRIPTION:
Stressors abound in everyday life for most people, and we tend to find ways to “get through” most of the time. Add the anxiety-filled atmosphere of recent local, national, and global events, prolonged for months—or even years—and even the perseverance of the toughest and most secure of us can begin to feel the effects of breakdown. In this brief workshop, presented by a Licensed Professional Counselor with years of experience navigating the mental and relational health challenges of a wide cross section of our society, you will learn how stress can be beneficial, how it becomes deadly, and how we can recover after some of the most intense seasons of loss and anxiety to experience productivity and fulfillment again. Learning Objectives:
- Understand the concept of “baseline anxiety” and the impact of frequent internal and external stressors on mental health and productivity.
- Learn practical interventions for immediate safety and long term recovery when you or a loved-one experiences heightened anxiety, post-stress burnout and depression.
- Recognize the influence of grief during stressful seasons and identify ways to navigate it healthily within an individual and team setting.
