Coaching is an investment in people. When it is used effectively, coaching results in improved performance. With practice, it becomes natural and the outcomes far exceed what could reasonably be expected from it. The art of coaching is knowing how to approach each individual, what strategies to use to gain their agreement, what methods to use for following through and how to hold people accountable.
Manager as Coach: Maximizing On-The-Job Performance and Results is specifically designed to teach managers how to choose the most effective strategy, prepare for coaching situations and how to conduct coaching sessions. Through a combination of powerful coaching skills and techniques, managers learn to improve the overall performance, productivity and effectiveness of their people. SPEAKER BACKGROUND
Walt Kowalski is President and Owner of BreakThroughs, Inc. based in Castle Rock, Colorado. Walt has over thirty-five years of experience in leadership, management development, and coaching. Responsible for the design, development, and presentation of BreakThroughs’ programs, Walt is a leading authority on building High Performance Cultures that are STRENGTHS-based, ENGAGEMENT-focused and PERFORMANCE-oriented. Focusing on results-oriented techniques, Walt’s coaching enables people to change the way they think, act, and behave in order to improve performance and increase productivity. Walt is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. His coaching practice utilizes the CliftonStrengths assessment to coach individuals, teams, managers, and executives in organizations that are committed to Building High Performance Cultures. The CliftonStrengths assessment helps individuals and teams understand how to be more productive and effective by focusing on their strengths and applying them to their work. The research clearly shows that people who use their strengths everyday are six times more likely to be engaged on the job. The result is that everyone in the team or organization will not only know how to use their own strengths, but they will know and use the strengths of the people they work with.
Walt holds a degree in Business Management from Metropolitan State University of Denver and also donates his time and facilitates programs for not-for-profit organizations, cancer patients, and high school students.
