Thursday, November 17, 2022 | 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. "Understanding New Modifications to the Lead and Copper Rule" Speaker: Zaid Chowdhury, PhD, P.E., BCEE Garver ABSTRACT:
One of most far-reaching drinking water regulation is the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR). This rule is aimed at reducing exposure to lead from drinking water consumption. The first version of LCR came out in the 1990s and have undergone some revisions over the years with the most recent revision published in early 2021. The current impetus of the revised rule is to get most or all of the lead service lines from water distribution system. This presentation will provide a summary of the requirements of the recently published LCR Revisions (LCRR) and also discuss what water utilities could do to prepare for this rule. SPEAKER BIOGRAPY:
Dr. Zaid Chowdhury is the Water Treatment Practice Leader for Garver, a consulting firm providing water related services in many States. Over the three decades of services, he has worked and continues to work side-by-side with the USEPA for drinking water regulatory activities. He also is actively engaged with AWWA Regulatory affairs office advising on various regulations including LCR. Dr. Chowdhury is highly regarded as an industry expert for water quality process design and research with a strong reputation for innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.. REGISTRATION:
Membership in AWWA or WEF is not required. All attendees must pre-register for this webinar by Wednesday evening, 11/16/22 at 5:00 p.m. This is required to maintain a record of those attending to satisfy training requirements for PE licensure or Water/Wastewater Operator Certification. Operators will be asked for NM Operator Certification number on the online registration form. Continuing Education is only available in New Mexico.
