Wednesday, August 21st, 2024 | 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Sound Decision Making for Policy, Programs and ProjectsScott Verhines, P.E. ABSTRACT: As professionals we are often called upon to support decision makers in developing, assessing and presenting alternative solutions to simple and complex problems. How do we help ensure those decisions are sound and long lasting? This presentation will offer recommendations for tools and techniques to improve how we do so based on over four decades of professional practice. SPEAKER BIOGRAPY: Scott Verhines has recently retired after a career as a consulting
engineer and former New Mexico State Engineer. During his career he has worked
on water resources challenges in every part of New Mexico. Verhines has managed
and participated in over 200 hydrologic and hydraulic studies ranging in size
from individual residential lots to over watersheds greater than 500 square
miles, and has planned and designed over 60 major transportation projects. He
has extensive experience working with local governments and utilities, and
working with the public in planning, design and implementation of water
resource and other projects. He has a BSCE degree from Texas Tech University
and MSCE and MBA degrees from the University of New Mexico. REGISTRATION: Membership in AWWA or WEF is not required. Registration is limited, so please register early. All attendees must pre-register for this webinar by Tuesday evening,8/20/24 at 5:00 p.m. Water and wastewater operators will be asked for NM Operator Certification number on the online registration form.
