ABSTRACT:
New Mexico was one of the first states to pass a comprehensive water data law. Since 2019, the agencies named in the Water Data Act have been working to provide New Mexicans with accessible and useful data for water management and planning. The role of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (NMBGMR) is to convene the WDI. This includes not only building applications and data sharing infrastructure at NMBGMR, but also coordinating the statewide efforts of participating agencies. This presentation will provide examples of NMBGMR’s work to implement the WDI. It will also highlight successes in water data access across all participating agencies. Finally, it will provide information on how to share your agency's data with the Water Data Initiative. SPEAKER BIOGRAPY:
